Nose is fixed

Well yesterday I had my surgery to fix my broken nose and now I am in the process of healing. Right now I feel worse than I did when I had the broken nose! This surgery stuff is rough.

The doc said I’ll be out for around 6 weeks before I am able to train again. Well, full rolling anyway. So in the meantime I am going to focus on my students and helping them improve. In addition to making them better I am going to focus on my lifting a bit while I have the downtime. I’m still bummed about missing out on the initial start to the tournament season, but I am actually really excited about being able to focus solely on my students.

Heal fast man!. Do they think that breathing through your nose will be back to normal after you heal? Do you have to sleep sitting up?

Thanks brother! Yeah, everything will be fine once it heals. The right side of the bone caved in and they were able to put it back in place. Doc said that once it heals, everything will be fine. But it’s very strange how the doctor looks at me when referring to BJJ. You can tell he’s thinking, “why in hell does this guy do this stuff?”

Yeah, I have to sleep sort of sitting up. I’m a back sleeper so raising my head up to an angle isn’t too difficult. The hardest part about sleeping right now is the fact that I can’t breathe through my nose. I wake up every 1-3 hours with a terribly dry mouth, so much so that my tongue feels leathery until I get something to drink.
