Should You Wear a Cup for BJJ Training ? (Here’s Why I Don’t)

Today’s question is a simple one. Should you wear a cup for BJJ practice? So, in this video I’ll give my quick thoughts on wearing a cup for BJJ training and rolling. I also share a slightly silly, slightly gross story about an MMA fight where I shared a cup with one of my fellow teammates.

In the video I mention a cup I personally used. The link for that is below.

Here’s a link to the diamond MMA cup I mentioned earlier in the video: https://amzn.to/3KECXFb

If you’re getting into BJJ and are planning on wearing a cup I think that’s fine. Just keep the things I talked about in the video in mind.

Thanks for watching the video.

As a female jiu-jitsu practitioner, I have drilled with only 1 person who always wore a cup and when we drilled back attacks or escapes, it was one of the most painful things. It would dig into my spine. This is jiu-jitsu. Let’s just all be mindful. Guess what, it hurts when you hit a girl in the crotch too. We just put our big girl panties on and handle our business.
