Are Older BJJ Black Belts Really Even Black Belts Anymore?

Are older BJJ Black Belts really even Black Belts anymore? That’s the question I basically got asked today from several friends of mine who are BJJ Black Belts and who are also getting older.

This issue they’re running into is that as they’re getting older they’re getting beaten by many of the younger Purples Belts (and other belts) who are much younger than them and focused heavily in BJJ training.

So in the video I explain my thoughts on it and the struggle that many of us will go through if we were lucky enough to do Brazilian Jiu-jitsu when we were younger and then have the continued luck of doing it as we get older.

Hope the video helps any of you older grapplers out there.

By that thinking Rickson and Rorion Gracie are no longer black belts,I’m sure you have blackbelts who made it and are resting on their laurels but look at Helio
